Gionee S8 Announced! A Super Slim 5.5 Inch Phone With Powerful Specs For USD 495 (Around 23.5K Pesos)

New logo, new phone, new design. That's what Gionee showed the world yesterday at the 2016 edition of the MWC. The Chinese mobile maker just announced the Gionee S8, the narrow 5.5 inch phone with full force tough tech and full metal loop antenna design which should improve the signal reception of the handset.

In that launch, Gionee claimed that they're the narrowest 5.5 inch phone in the world at 72.2%, but forgot about the LG G3 which is slightly narrower. Anyway, that small mistake doesn't remove the fact that Gionee actually had a great phone to show.

The Gionee S8 is a highly impressive device on paper that boast a 5.5 inch FHD AMOLED screen with "Force Touch" technology that puts more controls and gestures over in your display. It can recognize 3 levels as well, touch to select, tap to preview and press to open an app.

Under the hood, this new device is quite a meaty one. It features the MediaTek's Helio P10 octa core chip, Mali T860 GPU for your great gaming experience, large 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage and 3,000 mAh battery with 9V / 2A fast charging feature.

This handset also boast a reloaded camera that has a 16 MP sensor at the back with a large f/1.8 sensor to ensure that it can take good photos even under tough lighting conditions as it lets more light in. Gionee also promised a 40% boost in sensitivity and 80% reduction in noise paired with PDAF and Laser AF all at the same time. Given that they used that type of camera tech on a smartphone, we can expect this to be a great photography device.

It also goes with  70 dB  dual mic system w/ high sensitivity and an AKM4961 chip for that near audiophile grade HiFi audio experience.

Aside from that it also has WiFi, LTE, VoLTE, dual SIM and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 skin on top that will be upgraded to 4.0.
