Earlier, an analyst named Pat Jiutang just announced one very exciting news on Weibo. He stated that the upcoming MediaTek Helio X30 chip will use a 10 nm manufacturing process that will come with 10 cores.
It uses Cortex A35 small core architecture with a concrete core of Artemis + A53 + A35. The report also stated that it will use a better PowerVR GPU and can support up to 8 GB of RAM.
There is no doubt that MediaTek’s goal is still to reduce power consumption, but is the ten core really useful? At least for now MediaTek has not been able to prove. The X30 will come with a better PowerVR GPU and will support up to 8GB of RAM while improving audio-visual and baseband support.
In terms of performance, Pat Jiutang claims that the Helio X30 can score over 160,000 via Antutu benchmark. That's slightly higher than the current leader in Snapdragon 820 and several thousands higher than its other competitors from Samsung and Huawei.
Now that's a very exciting part of the future making it a processor that we should all watch out. It will be out sometime this 2017.
