Smart Expands WiFi Service LRT-1 Stations

Smart Communications Inc. has just announced that the company has expanded its WiFi offering in LRT-1 stations, #SmartWiFi is now up in 6 LRT-1 stations.

The company has expanded the coverage of its "carrier-grade" WiFi in Abad Santos, Pedro Gil, Gil Puyat, UN Avenue and R. Papa. Initially it was made available at Doroteo Jose station last February. Now, there's a total of 6 LRT-1 stations with #SmartWiFi service.

Morover, PLDT Smart Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise Juan Victor Hernandez mentioned that the company will continue to rollout more WiFi spots in various high-traffic areas of Metro Manila.

It includes all 13 stations of MRT Line 3 which was completed recently. Smart is looking to complete all LRT-1 stations by the end of 2017.

As our nationwide rollout of #SmartWifi goes on full swing, this deployment along the LRT-1 is yet another step forward in our efforts to make world-class Internet connectivity accessible to more and more people, says Hernandez.

Consumers who'll have access to the WiFi service will enjoy 30 minutes of FREE internet everyday without data cap. Just turn on your WiFi and select #SmartWiFi from the list of available networks in the area.

These are all aligned with our efforts to improve the commuting experience in the Metro. These are also opportunities for us to let the public reap the benefits of our network modernization program – specifically our Smart Wi-Fi and our LTE rollouts, explains Hernandez.

To extend the usage, Smart and even non-Smart subscribers may pay for PHP 20 (2 hours for 2 days) and PHP 50 (10 hours for 5 days) with no data cap.

As a quick recap, this WiFi service is on top of Smart's deployment of WiFi service in major airports, seaports, bus terminals, hospitals, schools, city halls, tourist spots and malls nationwide.
