Smart's Average Metro Manila LTE Speed Is Now Better Than Ever

According to Smart Communications's recent internal study for the months of April to June, the company has posted their best LTE speed results in the Metro yet.

Smart recorded an average 4G LTE mobile data download speed of 21.5 Mbps in North NCR. It includes areas like Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Novaliches, Malabon, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig, Manila, Makati, Pasay and Marikina.

In the South, Smart has an average of 14.4 Mbps. It includes ares like Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Taguig and Parañaque.

Smart's own study were bolstered by results of the latest J.P.Morgan Asia Network Quality study. LTE availability in Metro Manila has increased from 49 percent at the start of the year to 63 percent.

OpenSignal, also found that Smart has a “significant lead in LTE speeds” across all areas.

Currently, Smart is re-equipping its cell sites to use low-frequency bands such as 700 MHz and 850 MHz to provide better indoor coverage.

This is a part of the company's comprehensive network modernization and expansion program.
