Taobao Marketplace Items Will Be Sold By Lazada Group!

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd's Taobao Marketplace's select items will be sold at Lazada Group due to expanding partnership between the two e-commerce firms!

The collection of Taobao will be offered in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines in the following weeks through Lazada's e-commerce platform from a statement on Monday. Earlier this year, Taobao products were sold by Lazada in Singapore and Malaysia.

In June of this year, an additional 1 billion USD was additionally invested by Alibaba in Lazada that boosted its stake to 83 percent.

This is a true testament to the way the Lazada and Alibaba teams have come together to build the business in a fast and efficient way combining consumer insights, technology know-how and local expertise, said Aimone Ripa di Meana, Lazada’s chief marketplace officer.

The products are handpicked for their local appeal in each country and will be offered in their respective local languages on Lazada sites, the company added.

Southeast Asia has become the next big battleground for e-commerce companies that are hoping to grab as much market share as they can.

Lazada was launched back in 2012 with its headquarters in Singapore but operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
