MediaTek Announces MT6739, Designed For Budget 18:9 Devices

MediaTek has just launched the MT6739, a new chipset designed for entry level to midrange smartphones w/ 4G LTE connectivity and the trendy 18:9 screens.

In particular, it has WorldMode LTE Cat. 4 and 18:9 display support up to 1440 x 720 HD+ resolution. In addition, the MediaTek MT6739 comes w/ dual camera support (8 MP + VGA) for enhanced mobile photography experience. It can also do up to 1080p video recordings w/ 30 fps.

The SoC comes w/ a 64 bit Cortex-A53 quad core processor w/ up to 1.5 GHz clock speed,  IMG PowerVR GE8100 GPU up to 570 MHz, up to 3 GB LPDDR RAM, eMMC 5.1 storage, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, and GPS + GLONASS and Beidou.

MediaTek has long served as a trusted partner for carriers and device makers in India and will continue to invest in the region. Recently, the company opened a new office in Bangalore to expand its presence in India, and activated a successful smartphone design training program for Indian talents. The training program, created in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), India, Indian Cellular Association (ICA) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taiwan, developed talent for India’s fast-growing handset industry in support of the "Make in India" initiative.

The MT6739 is the upgrade of MT6735. Smartphones w/ this new chip will arrive by the end of 2017.
