Smart LTE Will Support Latest Flagship Phones

Great news! If you are eyeing the latest Samsung and Apple smartphones, Smart Communications Inc. has stated that it will work best w/ their improved LTE network.

In particular, Smart's improved LTE network is compatible w/ Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Apple's upcoming iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X high-end phones.

Smart noted that the published specs of the new Apple and Samsung flagships will work seamlessly on Smart's LTE frequencies. Eventually, it will allow users to fully take advantage of Smart's LTE network.

Through the roll-out of our LTE network, PLDT and Smart are leading the way to improving internet and digital services in the country, said Eric R. Alberto, PLDT Group Chief Revenue Officer.

Currently, Smart is re-equipping its cell sites w/ low frequency bands like 700 MHz and 850 MHz for improved indoor coverage. The company is also deploying high-frequency bands such as 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz which will increase the capacity of cell sites to handle more calls, SMS, and mobile data traffic.

To have the best experience, customers must not only have the right network, they must also have the right SIMs and the right devices. We are also partnering with top device makers to push more LTE handsets into the market and make the best video, social media and gaming experience more accessible to our customers, he added.

This upgrade is a part of the comprehensive network modernization and expansion program of the PLDT group to improve overall service.
