In case you missed it, the Lenovo K8 Note is one of the bang per buckest smartphone that was announced in the Philippines recently. Aside from its monstrous specs for price of PHP 8,999 during Lazada's sale until December 2, it has one of the most intriguing camera setup at this price point.

In particular, the Lenovo K8 Note boasts a 13MP f/1.7 + 5MP dual rear camera setup w/ PDAF and dual tone LED flash. The f/1.7 lens it has is the brightest and widest we ever saw on a sub PHP 15K phone in the Philippines yet.

On top of that, it also has a capable
13MP f/2.0 front facing shooter for selfies w/ LED flash.

On first look, the dual cameras of the K8 Note is ahead on paper. On the other hand, the selfie shooter of the Excite Prime 2 Pro has the higher pixel count.

Now, let's check who's the better phone for photography!

Disclaimer: All images are described based on our subjective opinions and experiences.

Scene 1 - Daylight 1
Both handled this situation nicely. Both has decent colors and details. The CEP 2 Pro's shot is a bit brighter, but it tends to soften the edges of the buildings. Color is a bit more saturated too. The K8 Note delivered the more natural shot this time. K8 Note -  1 point

Scene 2 - Daylight HDR against the light
Both struggled in this scene as expected like most midrange phones. Cloudfone delivered the slightly more exposed photo that was able to highlight the plants and the clouds better than the K8 Note. It may just look a bit more cartoonish, but at least highlights and details are better. CEP 2 Pro - 1 point

Scene 3 - Portrait mode
The CEP 2 Pro delivered the warmer photo while the Lenovo K8 Note has the colder color tone this time. The background blur of the K8 Note is deeper, but the edges on the CEP 2 Pro are cleaner and more natural looking. I like the details better on the CEP 2 Pro as well. CEP 2 Pro - 2 points

Scene 4 - Lowlight
Both struggled in this scene. The CEP 2 Pro is a bit greenish in this scene. On the other hand, the K8 Note is violetish in color. But, the K8 Note handled this situation a bit better. That's the power of the brighter and wide f/1.7 lens. It has less noise, a tad better dynamic range, and slightly better details. K8 Note - 2 points

Scene 5 - Selfie Daylight face beauty level 2
Cloudfone is on point this time. It got the colors accuratel, details are sharper, and beautification is just alright. On the other hand, K8 Note's selfie is undersaturated and too soft. CEP 2 Pro - 3 points

Scene 6 - Selfie outdoor lowlight
The clear winner in this scene is the CEP 2 Pro. Dynamic range, exposure, details, colors, and everything else is simply better. The shot taken by K8 Note is simply too dull.  CEP 2 Pro - 4 points

Scene 7 - Selfie night w/ flash
Both performed nicely in this scenario. Colors on the CEP 2 Pro are more natural looking. But, the flash of the K8 Note is stronger. I'll pick exposure over color accuracy this time. K8 Note - 3 points

Verdict

For the main cameras, its a toss coin. Some would prefer the lowlight performance of the K8 Note better than the CEP 2 Pro. Some would go for the sllightly better portraits by the CEP 2 Pro.

For selfies, the clear winner is the CEP 2 Pro. It's 2
0MP f/2.0 Sony IMX376 sensor is quite good.

Both are quite for a sub PHP 10K phone for mobile photography.
