Point and shoot camera battle!

As a matter of fact, the OnePlus 5T even arrived with the brighter pair of dual cameras. It has a 16MP f/1.7 Sony IMX398 primary sensor paired with f/1.7 Sony MX376K lens. It's also coupled with PDAF, EIS, 2x zoom, and dual LED flash.

On the other hand, the iPhone X only has 12MP f/1.8 + 12MP f/2.4. But, it has OIS for better stabilization in most lighting conditions. It even has laser AF, PDAF, and quad LED flash.

On paper, the OnePlus 5T should have the better lowlight cameras. But, as we all know, the iPhone X is a good lowlight shooter too.

For selfies, it appears that the OnePlus 5T is the clear winner.

Let's check it out!

Scene 1 - Daylight outdoor
Both did really well in this scene. You can argue that that the OnePlus 5T has better contrast and green, but we slightly preferred the exposure and details on the clouds and buildings on the iPhone X. iPhone X - 1 point

Scene 2 - Indoor food
Surprisingly, the OnePlus 5T was able to keep-up with the colors of the iPhone X. However, the shot taken with the iPhone X still has better shadows and sharper details. Details on the cactus part was also softer on the OnePlus 5T. iPhone X - 2 points

Scene 3 - Indoor portrait
Both phones has their own portrait modes. But, they have different implementations. Anyway, we tried to get the most identical shot taken using the portait modes of both phones for this comparison. The one taken with the OnePlus 5T has deeper background blur. But, again, delivered the sharper shot with truer colors. iPhone X - 3 points

Scene 4 - Indoor 2x zoom
This is a surprise! The hybrid zoom of the OnePlus 5T looks better in this scene compared with the iPhone X. It has less noise and better exposure. OnePlus 5T - 1 point

Scene 5 - Night 1
This scene could go either way. Exposure is about the same. I like the color on the OnePlus 5T better. But, the dynamic range and the sharpness could go to the iPhone X. Tie for me! OnePlus 5T - 2 points / iPhone X - 4 points

Scene 6 - Night 2
Brighter is not always better. The shot on the iPhone X is brighter, but it is washed and softer compared with the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5T has better shadows and colors too. OnePlus 5T - 3 points

Verdict

The total score is 3 to 4 in favor of the iPhone X. The iPhone X proved to be the better daylight shooter. Lowlight could go either way. But, the OnePlus 5T with a starting price of just PHP 26,990, proved that it can compete with the iPhone X that starts at PHP 63,990.

Both are really good shooters!
