Qualcomm signed worth USD 2B of sales with Lenovo, OPPO, Vivo, and others!

Qualcomm has just signed an MOU (memorandum of understanding) for sales with several top Chinese smartphone makers.

OPPO, Vivo, Lenovo, ZTE, Xiaomi, and Watech expressed interest in purchasing a combined USD 2B (PHP 101,708,000,000) worth of components in the next three (3) years!

Those components should include Snapdragon chipsets and modems.

All the six above-mentioned Chinese companies also agreed to worth together in developing 5G-compliant commercial devices by 2019.

5G will bring massive new opportunities to the mobile industry, and we are excited to work with these manufacturers on this 5G Pioneer Initiative, said Cristiano Amon, president, Qualcomm Incorporated. Qualcomm Technologies has close relationships within China’s mobile and semiconductor ecosystem, and we’ll continue to work with this ecosystem to drive innovation as we move from the 3G/4G era to the 5G era.

The announcement was announced in an event of Qualcomm in Beijing. According to the report by Reuters, the event was attended by by high ranking officials from Qualcomm and the the six other Chinese mobile brands.
