Samsung files patent for fingerprint activated rollable display!

New year, new tech! Samsung Group, the South Korean leader in the mobile display business just filed a patent for a fingerprint activated rollable display!

A rollable screen? Crazy!

Yes you read that part right, Samsung will create a rollable display that can be activated by fingerprint. It features magnets positioned along the body that houses the screen.

LG also has a rollable screen prototype that uses a very small rotating motor. But, Samsung's implementation is quite unique.

Samsung's patent shows two types of metallic bodies where the display is pulled by the cylindrical and square magnets. Then, the fingerprint scanner will unfold the screen in a touch of a finger.

Do this mean that aside from foldable smartphones, we could see mobile devices with rollable screens?
