The new king of chips?

Even if Intel posted a record revenue last 2017, it wasn't enough to beat Samsung. For the first time ever since 1992, Intel was defeated as the top chipmaker in the world.

Last Tuesday, Samsung reported a total chip sales of USD 69 billion last 2017 versus Intel's USD 63 billion during the same peroid.

Intel didn't have a bad year though. As a matter of fact, they still hold about 90 percent of the world's PC and their sales grew by 6 percent. However, success in computers is no longer enough.

On the other hand, this recent success of Samsung showed how the company grew. It has transformed itself from a television maker into a major player in smartphone components, other modern computing devices, smartphones, appliances, and more.

Samsung's main market are memory chips. Its growth in that part outsells PCs these days. Samsung was able to get licensing technology of memory chips from Intel's Japanese rivals.

What do you think guys?
