Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound announced

Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound technology. It is an optimized chain of audio innovations and software designed to provide seamless, immersive audio in and across devices that include smartphones, wireless earbuds, and headsets.

The company claims that by optimizing the interactions between Qualcomm Technology stacks, Snapdragon Sound is designed to deliver a more robust and seamless wireless listening experience while supporting high-resolution 24-bit 96kHz audio, ultra-low latency and crystal clear voice quality.

For the customers who prefer listening directly from the mobile device, Qualcomm Aqstic DAC is designed to support formats up to 384kHz 32-bit PCM and DSD with ultra-low THD+N.

The key technologies include the following:

1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series mobile platforms
2. Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 mobile connectivity system
3. Qualcomm QCC514x, QCC515x and QCC3056 series Bluetooth Audio SoCs
4. Qualcomm Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) Technology
5. Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, 24-bit 96kHz and 89ms latency
6. Qualcomm aptX Voice super wideband voice
7. Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec and smart speaker amplifier WCD938x and WSA883x
8. Qualcomm Audio and Voice Communication Suite

Qualcomm wants to ensure high levels of performance and thus each Snapdragon Sound optimized device will be tested for interoperability in a dedicated Qualcomm Technologies test facility where performance, audio quality and connectivity will be tested.

In the same press release, Qualcomm says that Xiaomi and Audio Technica will be the first customers of the new certification.
