Xiaomi releases Redmi S2 with 16MP AI selfie camera!

In China, Xiaomi just launched the Redmi S2. It's the company's latest selfie-focused smartphone with AI designed to compete with the offerings of OPPO and Vivo.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 packs 5.99-inch HD+ 18:9 screen, Snapdragon 625 octa-core chip, 3GB or 4GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB expandable storage, and 3,080mAh battery.

It highlights a 12MP f/12.2 1.25μm pixel size + 5MP main camera with PDAF and portrait mode at the back and a 16MP selfie  camera with AI beauty feature.

The selfie camera also uses pixel binning technology that combines four pixels to create one large 2.0µm pixel for  better looking selfie shots.

It also has a face unlock, fingerprint scanner at the back, IR Blaster, Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 9, and dedicated dual SIM card slots.

The Redmi S2's price starts at CNY 999 (PHP 8.1K) and CNY 1,299 (PHP 10.6K) for the 3GB RAM and the 4GB RAM variants respectively.

There's no word yet if it'll be available in other parts of the world including the Philippines.
