Samsung launches the new HMD Odyssey+ mixed reality headset

Samsung recently launched their new VR headset with the HMD Odyssey+ which aims to take VR to new heights with an improved immersive experience.

The HMD Odyssey+ has a dual 3.5-inch AMOLED displays that has a combine resolution of 1440 x 1600. It also has an Anti-Screen Door Effect (Anti-SDE) display that limits the distracting pixels that can sometimes be visible in some displays. The anti-SDE technology of the HMD Odyssey+ will eliminate those image noise for a better and more immersive visuals.

It also has AKG audio tehcnology with built-in 360-degrees spatial sound support to simulate 3D audio to immerse you in the virtual world you are in. The headset has built-in volume controls for on the fly adjustments.

Samsung also focused on comfort. The HMD Odyssey+ only weighs 590g and has a 146mm wide eye box to help match your facial features and keep you comfortable. The headband, display position and IPD wheel are also all adjustable to allow for personalized fits.

Setup is also made easier. It has built-in Bluetooth and Inside-Out Position tracking. It has a simple plug-in setup with PCs as well. HMD Odyssey+ also comes with pre-paired controllers so it is as simple as plug-and-play.

The controllers has 6 Degrees of Freedom tracking for a more accurate representations of your actions in game. The controllers can detect your moves and distance traveled inside your mixed reality world. Actions come out more naturally and reduces motion sickness as well.

The Samsung HMD+ is available in the US starting October 22. It will also be available in Korea, China, Hongkong and Brazil soon. It is currently priced at USD 499.99 (PHP 26.8K).
