President Duterte warns J&T Express of possible shutdown following viral video

J&T Express faces PH govt investigation 

After its video went viral on social media platforms earlier this week, J&T Express has to face the ire of President Rodrigo Duterte as he threatened to shut down the company. 

There's one (company) over which I often receive complaints. You better shape up, Duterte said on Tuesday night. 

Duterte said he already ordered the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to investigate J&T Express.

The viral video, where some of its staff recklessly threw parcels into a truck while loading cargo, had been also aired on national television. 

The President said he would order the shutdown of its operations once the investigation proves J&T Express is liable. 

In a statement on Wednesday, J&T Express said it was open to any investigation.

We appreciate the concern expressed by the President towards our customers' welfare as well as the well-being of our many partners and employees. Furthermore, we will cooperate with the government in any investigation that it will conduct. We are committed to improving our services for the benefit of the public.
