Black Shark 3S with SD865 and 120Hz screen announced

Black Shark recently launched the Black Shark 3S, the newest gaming-focused smartphone of the Xiaomi-related company.

The device sports a similar look from the Black Shark 3, but it has a slightly improved design, functions, and specs.

The design

Black Shark 3S highlights a mid-mounted motherboard design to prevent the phone from getting heated when holding horizontally. It also uses a sandwich liquid cooling system for better heat dissipation of the 5G chip and charging circuit.

In the display, it still sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen. But, the refresh rate is up from 90Hz to 120Hz with a 270Hz touch sampling rate, 17ms touch response speed, and MEMC intelligent motion compensation tech. It also has an In-Display fingerprint reader.

It also has the Screen pressure 4.0 for three-dimensional control and AI recognition technology. 

Inside, it is weird that Black Shark didn't use the new and overclocked Snapdragon 865 Plus chip. Instead, it retained the 7nm Snapdragon 865. That chip is still super-fast, but it could have been nicer if it has Qualcomm's newest flagship for an even better gaming experience.

The device is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage, and 4,720mAh battery with USB-C 65W ultra-fast flash charging and 18W back magnetic charging.

For cameras, it has a 64MP main cam, 13MP 120-degree ultra-wide cam, and a 5MP depth cam. There's a 20MP shooter for selfies as well.

The device also sports a Dual 1217 super linear speakers, 3.5mm audio jack, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual nano SIM slots.

It also offers screencasting with a USB 3.0 data cable with a control delay of 40ms while playing games.

The device runs with JOYUI12. It comes with Somatosensory motion control with built-in 6 kinds of somatosensory actions, two-level sensitivity adjustment, and Voice Control 2.0 for voice customization that offers volume adjustment, screenshots, screen recording, etc. with voice.
