Let's dive in!

Unboxing/Accessories

Box inclusions
Box inclusions

X50 comes in a blue box with an embossed logo and parallel diagonal lines. Inside the box are the X50, vivo earphones, 3.5mm to USB Type-C dongle, USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable, 33W wall charger, silicon case, documentation and SIM ejector tool.

vivo continues to offer a pretty presentation and full box inclusion, unlike other brands. Competitors have begun not including earphones and dongles. It is nice that vivo has continued this generous trend.

Build Quality/Design

Beautiful back

vivo ups their hardware build and design with the X-series. The X50 is made of mostly glass and aluminum. The front and back glass panels that are sandwiching the aluminum frame in the middle.

The whole phone has a curved back panel which makes it a lot easier to hold while the glass and aluminum frame gives the phone a solid, hefty and premium feel to it. In fact, the X50 looks and feels like a higher-priced phone.

At the back of the vivo X50 are the 48MP f/1.6 main camera, 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra-wide camera, 13MP f/2.48 depth sensor, and a 5MP f/2.48 1.5cm super macro that doubles as a 2x optical zoom camera.

The X50 looks and feels like a higher-priced phone!

Right beside the camera module is the triple LED flash and tracking microphone. This new tracking microphone completes the triple microphone set-up that allows for zooming audio.

In front is a massive 6.56-inch, 90Hz curved E3 AMOLED display with support for HDR10+ at 2376 x 1080p resolution. It has super slim bezels with only the bottom side being thicker than the side and top bezels. There is a punch hole on the top left side of the phone that is off-set by a few millimeters from the corner which can be a concern for some people.

It looked off at first but after a few hours, I started to get used to it. What is surprising is that vivo was able to squeeze an earpiece on the slim top bezel.

On the punch hole is a 32MP f/2.48 front-facing selfie camera with AI Face Beauty.

On top of the vivo X50 is a unique design where the company decided to add a glasstic panel with a holographic text that says, Professional Photography. While on the Bottom is a SIM tray, microphone port, USB Type-C port, speaker grill, and antenna lines.

On the left side of the X50 is a smooth surface with antenna lines while on the right side are the volume rocker and the power button.

The SIM tray can carry two nano SIMs and is lined with a red gasket. Gaskets are used to protect entry points from water getting inside. The X50 may have water-resistant features but with no certification.

Powering the device is a large 4,200mAh battery with 33W fast charging in a chassis that measures 159.54 x 75.39 x 7.55 mm and weighs only 174.5 grams.

Overall, the vivo X50 is one of the prettiest phones we've seen at its price and it is one of the few phones with glass front and back panels with an aluminum frame.

As of the moment

vivo X50's beautiful back!
vivo X50's beautiful back!

Out of the box, what makes the X50 stand out is the beautiful design, premium build materials, and the outstanding camera performance out of the box. It is one of the most beautiful phones at its price point and is mostly made of glass and aluminum.

But the killer feature of the X50 is the cameras. As soon as we tried them, we noticed how high the consistency in image quality and look that each camera produces.

What's even more impressive is that it features a proper macro camera with good resolution and good image quality while doubling as a telephoto camera.

The only concern with the X50 is that it uses an aging Snapdragon 730 SoC that could be a problem for some users.

Otherwise, the X50 is a very promising device.
