Promises easier registration process

There will be an online portal designed to make it easier for applicants who want to get the National ID.

Interested Filipino citizens will simply need to enter their personal details and arrange a visit to one of the registration centers where their biometrics data can be enrolled.

In the first quarter of 2021, 17.4 million citizens were able to complete the system's first step in registration, which entails collecting data from low-income households door-to-door and scheduling appointments for step 2.

This is in addition to the 10.6 million national ID registrants recorded back in 2020. This means as of the moment there's a total of approximately 28 million registrants.

For step 2 of the scheme, around 4.6 million people had completed it. That involves going to the registration centers and providing data for biometrics.

By the end of the year 2021, the PSA intends to have 70 million citizens registered in the PhilSys.
