In an event last night, HONOR launched the Magic V. It's the first foldable smartphone in the world powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The device is boasting a 7.9-inch main folding OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 10-bit colors, 2272 x 1984 resolution, and 800 nits brightness.
This is also the first foldable smartphone with IMAX Enhanced certification. This display has an aspect ratio of 10.3:9 which divides close to a 21:9 aspect ratio when you use the split-screen for multitasking. HONOR said that it could be closed flat for added protection.
The cover screen uses a 6.45-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2560 x 1080 resolution, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. This size and ratio are closer to a regular smartphone experience. This is way better than the awkwardly tall screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G.
Assisting the powerful chip of this phone is its 12GB RAM. It also has a 256GB or 512GB storage option and a large 4,750mAh battery with USB-C 66W fast charging. The company claimed that this can play intensive games for 4 hours straight which is better than the Z Fold3.
For cameras, it is impressive as well. It uses 3 50MP cameras at the back. The first 50MP cam has a 23mm equivalent lens, the ultra-wide 50MP cam has a 13mm equivalent lens, and the last 50MP lens is a color spectrum shooter.
For selfies, it comes with 2x 42MP cameras on the punch-hole of the main screen and cover screen.
HONOR Magic V also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, WiFI 6, 5G, 4G LTE, and Android 12-based Magic UI 6.0 skin. This also has the OS Turbo X, GPU Turbo X, and Link Turbo X technologies to further improve the overall smartphone experience.
