Xiaomi 12 Lite Unboxing and First Impressions

Xiaomi recently teased the arrival of the Xiaomi 12 Lite to the Philippines and we want to share our first impressions of the upcoming smartphone.

Let's take a deeper look at the unboxing experience of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Lite and how it fares in real life.

To recap, the smartphone features a large Gorilla Glass 5-protected 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and Dolby Vision support. Inside is the Snapdragon 778G octa-core processor, Adreno 642L GPU, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2, and 4,300mAh battery with 67W turbo charging.

At the back of the phone are the 108MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and 2MP macro with an LED flash while in front is the 32MP selfie camera.

Other features include NFC, stereo speakers, and an IR blaster.

It has yet to be priced in the Philippines.

Unboxing/Accessories

Box

The handset comes in familiar white packaging with reflective text and Xiaomi branding. Around the box are branded decals, regulatory information, and key features.

Box inclusions

Inside the box are the phone, a 67W wall charger, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, SIM ejector tool, bumper case, and documentation.

There is no included pair of earphones in the box. The screen protector is pre-installed on the screen of the phone.

Build Quality/Design

Xiaomi 12 Lite in Green

Upon unpacking the phone, we were immediately stunned by how beautiful the phone is up close.

The phone is made of a combination of premium polycarbonate and glass. It feels solid and premium but is surprisingly lightweight.

The back and front glass panels are prone to fingerprint smudges and both make the phone slippery to hold. We recommend wearing the included bumper case right away.

In between the glass panels is the polycarbonate frame with a light matte finish.

Large display

On the front of the phone is a 120Hz AMOLED panel with a 240Hz touch sampling rate and 2400 x 1080 resolution. It is Gorilla Glass 5 protected and it supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. 

It has a punch hole that houses the front-facing camera. Around the panel are super slim bezels.

The panel produces crisp text with vibrant and detailed images. It also looks and feels fast with the 120Hz turned on. 

Under the display is the fingerprint scanner. It scanned our fingerprints quickly and is easy to set up.

As mentioned earlier, the screen protector is pre-installed.

Top and Bottom

On top of the phone are the IR blaster, speaker grill, and a microphone port while at the bottom are the second speaker grill, USB-C port, microphone and SIM tray.

Left and right

On the left of the phone is a smooth surface while on the right are the volume rocker and the power button.

Both the volume rocker and power button have satisfying feedback whenever these buttons are pressed.

SIM tray

The SIM tray can carry up to two nano-SIM cards. It has an orange rubber gasket that indicates a form of water and dust resistance feature.

The device measures 159.3 x 73.7 x 7.29 mm and weighs 173 grams.

Rear cameras

At the back of the phone are the 108MP f/1.9 primary camera, 8MP f/2.2 119-degree ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera with an LED flash.

While on the punch hole in the front is the 32MP f/2.45 selfie shooter.

It is feature packed with an impressive spec sheet: 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G octa-core processor, Adreno 242L GPU, 6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2, and a 4,300mAh battery with 67W turbo charging.

Let's not forget the 108MP rear triple cameras and the 32MP front-facing selfie camera.

Depending on the price, the Xiaomi 12 Lite could be one of the new value-for-money smartphones to beat with both proper specs and eye-catching design.
