Samsung has brought the latest generation of its popular Evo line of portable solid-state drives with a new design and up to 8TB capacity.
The new T5 Evo portable SSD from Samsung comes in an all-new design with a metal handle on top and a shock-resistant rubber design. It is rated for up to 2 meters of drop resistance.
It features a new Dynamic Thermal Guard Technology that should withstand and control heat and maintain optimal temperature even at high speeds.
It is advertised to get up to 3.8x faster than an external HDD. It is officially rated for up to 460MB/s in sequential read and write speeds. It is engineered to handle larger file transfers with consistently fast sustained performance.
The Evo comes with AES 256-bit hardware encryption and is CE, BSMI, KC, VCCI, RCM, FCC, IC, UL, TUV, CB, EAC, UKCA, and BIS certified. It is also RoHS 2 compliant and will come with a three-year limited warranty.
It is compatible with PCs, Macs, laptops, Android phones and tablets via USB 3.2, and backwards compatibility with USB 3.1, 3.0 and USB 2.0.
The SDD comes in Black and it measures 40 x 95 x 17mm and weighs 102 grams.

All three storage variants were recently listed and available for purchase from the DataBlitz e-commerce website.
The T5 Evo should arrive in stores, authorized distributors and Samsung stores nationwide soon.
