DITO bets on wireless broadband

The company’s president and chief executive officer, Eric Alberto, said DITO Telecommunity hopes to have around two million subscribers for its fixed wireless access (FWA) service by 2026.

Currently, this segment has 250,000 subscribers.

In his presentation at a recent briefing, Alberto stressed that wireless connectivity is the way to go amid "significant hurdles" facing wired internet connectivity.

When fiber lines get cut, he said, consumers experience "severe service downtimes." The official also noted its limited commercial reach.

DITO Telecommunity’s chief revenue officer Adel Tamano also said only eight to nine million households are served with broadband, given these challenges.

That's where fixed wireless access (FWA) comes in, which is DITO’s and the country's next frontier. Wireless broadband eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming installation and repair. It allows us to reach areas that fiber can't or won't serve. In short, wireless is how we bridge the digital divide for every Filipino home, Alberto said.

Powered by DITO's true 5G Standalone network, WoWFi Pro delivers speeds of up to 100 Mbps, and comes with unlimited 5G plus a bonus 50GB high-speed allocation. This is portable with a plug-and-play DIY setup with no professional installation required.

This isn't just about launching another product. This is about opening up digital and 5G access. We believe that our kababayans deserve better. DITO is committed to delivering real value and making good on our promise to be a telco that builds, includes, and empowers, Tamano said.
