Toughness meets a whole day battery

TECNO has officially announced the Spark 50 4G, a budget-tier smartphone that draws design inspiration from a rectangular camera module reminiscent of recent flagship devices. 

The handset is said to feature a durable build, backed by SGS-certified 1.8-meter drop resistance and IP64-rated dust and water resistance, along with support for wet and oily hand touch input.

The phone's design

The device sports a 6.78-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. A top-center punch-hole cutout houses the front-facing 8MP selfie camera, which is accompanied by a front flash.

Inside, the Spark 50 4G runs on a 2.0GHz 12nm MediaTek Helio G81 octa-core processor paired with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU running at 820MHz. 

The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded up to 24GB, alongside storage options of either 128GB or 256GB.

Powering the device is a 7,000mAh battery, which TECNO claims can sustain up to 28 hours of continuous video playback based on internal laboratory testing. The company also states that the battery is rated for five years of durability.

On the rear, the Spark 50 4G features a 50MP main camera with what TECNO calls FlashSnap technology, designed to capture fast-moving subjects with minimal blur.

The prices

Among its additional features is the FreeLink 2.0 Signal Enhancement Sensor, which TECNO says enables calls, text messages, voice messages, and photo sharing in areas with weak network coverage, with a claimed communication range improvement of up to 1.5 kilometers.
