WWDC26: Apple launches Siri AI alongside OS 27 enhancements

At WWDC, Apple unveiled Siri AI, Apple Intelligence, and major upgrades across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27.

Some of the things that Siri AI can do

Apple Intelligence introduces Siri AI. Apple said that it is a smarter, deeply integrated assistant across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro.

Siri AI can tap personal context, search messages, emails, and photos, perform systemwide actions, answer on‑screen or web queries, and sync conversations privately via iCloud. 

Alongside Siri AI, Apple Intelligence powers everyday features like image editing in Photos, creative tools in Image Playground, smarter browsing in Safari, and enhanced communication in Messages and Mail.

Improved parental controls

Apple also introduced new parental controls and redesigned Screen Time. It lets parents manage kids' app access, contacts, and content with age‑appropriate protections, daily usage limits, and expert‑guided time allowances. 

There is also a dedicated site that offers resources and guidance, while the updated Screen Time provides clearer insights into device use and top apps.

Apple's 2027 software updates are also designed to deliver faster, smoother, and more reliable experiences with design refinements, performance boosts, and smarter tools across platforms.

The company claims that apps launch up to 30% quicker, and photos load 70% faster. Meanwhile, AirDrop is now 80% speedier, and iPad file transfers are 5x faster.

Meanwhile, Spotlight, Photos, and Mail searches are rebuilt for stability. Mail's new ranking system can now surface more relevant results.

Apple also refines software design for a more focused, approachable experience.

A new Settings slider lets users personalize Liquid Glass from clear to tinted, sharper app icons refresh the look, and macOS updates restore beloved design elements like uniform toolbars, edge‑to‑edge sidebars, and colored icons.

Developers can test the new features via the Apple Developer Program starting today. A public beta is coming next month through the Apple Beta Software Program.
