HUAWEI nova Y74 launched: 5-star drop resistance, 6,620mAh battery, and 90Hz display

High battery meets durability

The phone comes in a straightforward design highlighted by a square rear camera module and HUAWEI's familiar aesthetic for the nova series. 

The company also emphasizes durability, noting that the device has received SGS 5‑Star Drop Resistance certification and is rated to withstand drops from heights of up to 1.8 meters.

The display

At the front is a 6.67‑inch LCD display with HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 850 nits. The panel also supports wet‑touch operation, allowing the screen to remain usable even when exposed to moisture.

Powering the device is an unspecified chipset, though GSMArena suggests it may be a Kirin 8000‑series processor due to similarities with the HUAWEI Enjoy 90 Plus. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

The cameras

A key feature of the nova Y74 is its 6,620mAh silicon‑carbon battery. HUAWEI claims it can deliver up to 24.9 hours of online video playback or around 48 hours of voice calls on a full charge. 

With 40W wired charging, the battery is said to reach approximately 53 percent in 30 minutes, while a 15‑minute charge is estimated to provide up to five hours of video playback.

The rear camera system is led by a 50MP main sensor, while the front houses an 8MP selfie camera.

Other features include WiFi, 4G, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, and dual‑SIM. HUAWEI also added a customizable X Button, which can be configured to launch apps or shortcuts. 

Finally, the device ships with EMUI 12.
