Samsung's take on Apple Card

The card is offered through a partnership between Samsung, Barclays US Consumer Bank, and Visa. It will be available in two formats: a physical metal card bearing Samsung's black logo, and a virtual card.

Applications opened on July 22 (today), and eligible customers can apply either online or in person at Samsung retail stores across the US.

New cardholders are eligible for a USD 200 (around PHP 12.3K) welcome bonus after spending USD 2,000 (around PHP 123.5K) within the first 90 days of account opening.

According to Samsung, the card offers 5% cash back on Samsung purchases, 3% on purchases made through Samsung Wallet, 2% on eligible streaming services, and 1% on all other purchases.

Cardholders will also receive a 20% discount on Samsung VIP Advantage membership, as well as 5% cash back on purchases or renewals of that membership.

The Galaxy Card's debut comes more than seven years after Apple introduced its own credit card, the Apple Card.

No word yet if Samsung will bring this to other markets, particularly in the Philippines. We will let you know once we hear back from the brand.

What do you guys think?
