New iPad Mini with OLED soon?
A new Smart Folio for the iPad mini, bearing model number A3632, has appeared on Apple’s French regulatory website. That number does not match any iPad mini case the company has sold to date.
The listing, added recently, sits alongside iPhone 18 Pro accessories published in September. It is dated September 9, though it is unclear when it went live.
It includes no technical specifications, but the document lists some figures. According to it, the new Smart Folio contains at least 3% recycled materials, down from at least 9% in the current model. It also lists at least 6,610mg of rare earth elements, up from 3,947mg, which may indicate changes to the magnets that attach the cover to the tablet.
Notably, the iPad mini (2021) and iPad mini (2024) use the same Smart Folio. A new model number for a folio could suggest that the next iPad mini has physical changes that make existing cases incompatible, though this is speculation.
Rumors indicate the next iPad mini will feature an OLED display and a more water-resistant design. It is expected to be announced on October 27 or 28.
