The most common question we get nowadays is what machine learning or A.I. is for. Let us show you things that make the Huawei Mate 10 series step up from a "smart" phone to an intelligent one.

1. A.I. computed battery usage - The Mate 10 series boasts that it can deliver an energy efficient performance that is 50 times better than any power management system around. Over time, it will learn when an app or feature will not be used. It will then optimize the system and minimize the energy allocated to those de-prioritized apps and features. For example, you fell asleep with an app open. Usually, this will drain your battery but with Huawei's A.I, those apps will be analyzed and unimportant apps and features will be closed. You can expect a longer battery life each day and expect it to be maintained or improved by the A.I.

3. Camera A.I.The Mate 10 series showcased one of the best A.I scene and object recognition when taking photos so far.

The camera app of the Mate 10 can recognize 13 different objects and scenes and it intelligently optimize picture settings to deliver the sharpest and crispiest images most of the time.

The A.I. can recognize what you are trying to take a photo of i.e. your cat, dog or food.

Shooting at night time, it will adjust the shutter speed and ISO of the camera so that the photo will look its best. Huawei also boasted that the A.I. also assists when it comes to zoom so that you can get lossless zoom capability.

4. Productivity - Over time, the Mate 10 will learn about your habits. It will learn your most used apps and when you usually open it and have it ready for you. It provides a seamless experience of having apps ready for use when you need it. EMUI also has the ability to clean and optimize itself so that it feels like it just came out of the box even after months or years of usage.

5. A.I. translation - This is a great feature that a lot more phones should have out of the box. If you are a citizen of the world and you love to travel then this will be the number one feature that you should know. All you have  to do is open the translator app, tap the camera icon, choose a language and then take a photo of the text. It will then be translated for you. It is as easy as 1-2-3. This is a really useful feature that is a bit take for granted.

A lot of you may say that this does not seem to be a lot of new features. Yes, for now. The keyword that you need to remember when you talk about A.I and machine learning is "learning".

Learning is a constant process and these, my friends, are just the tip of the iceberg.

Huawei and Apple opened the floodgates for NPUs and AI. Just like the bezel-less craze, this can take off be a main feature in every single smartphone in the near future. In time, app developers will integrate A.I. functionality in their apps and that's when we can see what the future holds for machine learning.
