TrendForce, a known market research firm has announced the top smartphone vendors for Q2 of 2016. Based on their report, Samsung still leads the global smartphone race followed by Apple at number 2 and the Huawei at number 3!
Samsung garnered 24.5% of the market share, Apple with 15.1%, and Huawei at 9.2%. They're followed by extra aggressive Oppo at number 4 with 5.6% of global shares which is slightly bigger than LG who's sitting at number 5 with 5.4%. Completing the list of the global smartphone leader is BBK / Vivo group at number 6 with 4.7% share.
Not revealed in the list are the likes of Sony and HTC who are very strong previously around the Globe. From the top 5 two years ago, what's missing here are Lenovo / Motorola and Xiaomi. We're also expecting Asus to be included in the top 10 due to their recent strong showing in Taiwan and the Philippines.
In China, Huawei dominates the game. They lead got a huge lead with 20.8% at number 1 spot, followed by Oppo at number 2 with 12.7%, and BBK / Vivo at number 3 with 10.6%. Lenovo is also pretty strong in China at 10.3% with the number 4 slot.
Xiaomi, a previous leader, is still in the top 5 at 10%. However, its rank drop is an indicator that it might not have have the same "Apple of China" appeal.
Given those numbers, it seems like Huawei, Oppo, and BBK / Vivo are the brands that's making a lot of noise around the globe recently.
What do you think guys?
