Xiaomi just announced the much-awaited Redmi 6 series, as promised, being the successor of the Redmi 5 series.

Let's start the hype with the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The smartphone features a polycarbonate back panel with a brushed metal surface.

Redmi 6A features a 5.45-inch (1440 × 720 pixels) HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display and a pixel density of 295ppi. It is the first smartphone carrying the MediaTek Helio A22 12nm quad-core SoC. 

It is packed with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage which is expandable memory up to 256GB via microSD. It has a 3000mAh battery inside. 

6A boasts of a single 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, both with AI Portrait mode. Unfortunately, the Redmi 6A lacks the fingerprint sensor. 

Connectivity options on the Redmi 6A include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (only 2.4GHz), GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. Sensors onboard the budget handset include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor.

Just like the Redmi 6A, this smartphone has a polycarbonate back panel with a brushed metal surface. It sports a 5.45-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 80.7 percent screen-to-body ratio. 

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 is one of the first smartphones powered by an octa-core 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 SoC (clocked at 2GHz). It is paired with 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM or a 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM expandable up to 256GB via microSD.

Redmi 6 is packed with 3000mAh battery. It has a dual camera setup at the back, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, both with A.I. capabilities. On the front, the Redmi 6 has a 5-megapixel selfie sensor. 

For connectivity, the Redmi 6 has 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, infrared, and proximity sensor.

Xiaomi trusted the MediaTek for the processors of their Redmi 6 series since huge improvements of the processor company are manifesting recently. 

Both Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 and has face unlock.  

The Chinese smartphone brand also promised that the Redmi 6 series will give users a long-term seamless experience, thanks to the A.I and latest skin.

The Redmi 6A is priced at CNY 599 or around PHP 5,000. The Redmi 6 with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage retails for CNY 799 or around PHP 6,620 while the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 999 or around PHP 8,280.
