Real metal and glass

Build/Design - In terms of build and design, the both are well machined phones. The Flare S7 Plus has the more premium metal and glass design despite the lower price tag. OPPO used a very durable type of plastic though.

Petal-like gradient pattern behind

It is also the flashier device with petal-like gradient back design. But, I won't blame you if you will choose the more classic Mi 8-like appeal of the Cherry device.

OPPO F9 screen

Display - OPPO is ahead here. They have the bigger 6.3-inch screen with much smaller notch. It also has the brighter panel. Both has 1080p screen resolution. Sharpness is aboiut the same.

Specs - The Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus can compete with the OPPO F9. They both have the powerful Helio P60 octa-core processor with dual-core AI and 64GB of expandable storage.

The OPPO F9 will be the slightly better multitasking phone due to its larger 6GB RAM versus the 4GB RAM of Flare S7. It also has the bigger 3,500mAh battery with VOOC flash charge support.

The Flare S7 Plus has USB Type-C reversible charging and wireless charging though.

Cameras - The Flare S7 has a 16MP f/2.0 sensor paired with a 5MP secondary camera. On the other hand the OPPO F9 has the brighter 16MP f/1.8 sensor paired with a 2MP f/2.4 snapper. Both are assisted by AI. The F9 has the slight edge on paper here even if the Flare S7 has the bigger 5MP secondary camera.

For selfies, the F9 has the 25MP AI selfie shooter while the Flare S7 Plus arrived with the 16MP sensor.

Our thoughts

Obviously, the OPPO F9 is still ahead. It is pricier at PHP 17,990. It is the phone with smaller notch, larger RAM size, VOOC flash charger, and slightly better cameras based on their specs.

But interestingly, the Flare S7 Plus can compete. It even has several compelling features like the metal and glass build, USB Type-C port, IR face unlock, and wireless charger even if it is much cheaper at just PHP 11,990.
