Filipinos are making a name for themselves at the NEXT-IMAGE Awards by Huawei as their entries make it to the Top 50 finalists. 6 of them to be exact.

Huawei has always put effort in advancing technology in smartphone photography. They supply consumers with smartphone that help in terms of visual expression. This resulted to the NEXT-IMAGE Awards which is a competition that allows people around the world express themselves through photography.

Compared from last year's competition, the number of participants in 2018 has been doubled. To put it into perspective, the number of submissions from the Philippines alone reached a total of 10,431 entries from 3,378 attendees.

The most popular categories among Filipinos are: Hello Life, Good Night, Faces, Check In, Timeline, and Storyboard.

There are 6 notable entries that made it to the Top 50 from the Philippines. First is Bernard Pasatiempo Recirdo II's entry called "Bedtime Story" that was shot from his Huawei Nova 2i. It shows the eagerness of kids to learn and read even if it's just under a candle's light.

The next one is Marl Daiz's entry called "Depression" shot using his Huawei Mate 8 that depicts the many sides of depression. Depression is a real issue that should be shined light upon. The rest of the Filipino's are as follows:

The winner of this year's competition is Michael Wesolek from Poland. His entry is called "Caught in a Beam of Light" that was shot using a Huawei Mate 10 Pro.

He won the grand prize of USD 20,000, Huawei P20 smartphone amd a Huawei Matebook X Pro laptop.
