For the front camera, the Mate 20 Pro boasts of a 24MP f/2.0 with AI face beauty and 3D portrait lighting.

How can the Huawei Mate 20 Pro up your mobile filmmaking game?

Whether at school or travels, we sometimes get the need of taking videos. But what if you only have your Huawei Mate 20 Pro with you?

The Mate 20 Pro's Leica triple-camera setup has an AI-assisted optical stabilization, different filters, and ultra wide angle mode.

It has options that can allow you to shoot 4K 30 fps stabilized videos. If you want smoother looking videos, you can try the 1080p 60 frames per second feature. Plus, it has up to 960 fps for super slow motion shots.

This smartphone also has the usual time-lapse, but you can use ultra wide-angle mode to take wide type of time-lapse videos.

Moreover, it has Leica's signature filters. It includes standard, vivid, and smooth filter options.

You can also use the face beauty mode while taking videos that allow you to shoot up to 720p in quality. The Mate 20 Pro also features the AI Zoom. It is an automatic zoom with object tracking.

The main highlight of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro's camera features is the AI Cinema. It has the AI colour mode that desaturates the background from the subject for stunning, cinematic like effects.

It also has the Background Blur mode that will allow you to shoot videos with deep background blur or bokeh.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro's camera also features other cinematic filters like the Vintage filter, Suspense or horror movie-like filter, and Fresh filter.

Our thoughts

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro can definitely shoot cinema-like videos but will not replace the dedicated cameras we have around.

But if you don't have your camera with you, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro can shoot nice videos because of its AI stabilized 4K 30 frames per second footage and ultra-wide angle mode.  Plus its multiple, unique cinema-like features while being able to do other things that a modern flagship smartphone can.
