Qualcomm intros Snapdragon 215, a budget 64-bit chip with true dual-cam support

Qualcomm has just released the Snapdragon 215, a chip designed to bring a few modern features to entry-level phones.

The first 2-series 64-bit chip!

Snapdragon 215 is the first 2-series 64-bit chip. It features 4x Cortex-A53 chips which deliver up to 50 percent faster CPU performance than the previous generation. It is paired with Hexagon DSP for audio and sensor processing​ and Adreno 308 GPU.

Qualcomm said that it is a chip designed to support up to 5 days of music playback and up to 10 hours of video playback.

It also has the support for Quick Charge solution with up to 75 percent faster-charging speed with no tradeoffs than traditional implementations.

Snapdragon 215 is also the first 2-series chip with dual ISPs for true dual-camera support. It can support up to 13MP photos with improved depth sensing and richer details. It also has up to 1080p video capture.

SD215 is also the first 2-series chip with HD+ resolution support.

The chip also goes with WiFi 802.11ac connectivity, 4G LTE Cat 4, Dual VoLTE, EVS voice calls, and NFC Payments on Android.

Commercial devices with Snapdragon 215 inside are expected to be available in the second half (H2) of 2019.
