HMD is a leader not only in smartphone technology but also in software and security updates

Over 90 percent of Nokia devices sold since the Q3 2018 have been updated or have received an update to the latest Android version, Pie. This makes Nokia smartphones, even the 2017 models, the fastest to get the operating system and security updates among competing brands. Along with these valuable updates, HMD also rolls out several patches across its smartphone categories to make the user experience better.

Following Nokia as second and third place are smartphone giants Samsung with 89 percent and Xiaomi with 84 percent.

Why OS and Security updates matter?

Today, smartphones have become valuable investments. They’ve become an extension of ourselves, making them not easily replaceable objects. 

The Counterpoint research also reveals that smartphone owners today are keeping their devices longer than expected. This makes receiving software and security updates crucial, as these keep our devices in good working condition.
