The XR upgrade!

The new iPhone 11 still has the anodized aluminum body and the 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD, but it now has improved IP68 water resistance and runs with the 7nm A13 Bionic chipset. Of course, Apple claimed that it is the "fastest" CPU/GPU with 8.5 billion transistors.

In comparison, the new Huawei Kirin 990 chip 8.0 billion transistors. However, it is still lagging behind the Kirin 990 5G with 10.3 billion transistors. But in real life, we won't be surprised if the A13 will be the better chip.

It uses 2 performance cores with 20 percent faster speeds and 30 percent lower power consumption. It is paired with 4 efficiency cores with 20 percent faster performance and 40 percent lower power consumption than its previous-gen chips.

It also has a metal optimized quad-core GPU with a 20 percent speedier performance and 40 percent lower power consumption than the predecessor.

The company also upgraded its octa-core Neural Engine for AI tasks. It has a 20 percent faster performance and 15 percent lower power consumption.

The cameras have been upgraded too. It has a dual-camera setup coming from just a single lens. Its 12MP f/1.8 lens is now paired with a 12MP f/2.4 120-degree ultra wide-angle lens.

Moreover, Apple finally copied Huawei's Super Night Mode to let the iPhones take better images in the dark. It will come with a future update though.

There is this "Audio Zoom" feature that matches the audio to the video framing for "more dynamic" sound as well.

For selfies, it now has an updated 12MP shooter with 4K video at up to 60fps and 120fps slo-mo.

It also has WiFi 6, 4G LTE, and Dual SIM with eSIM. It doesn't have 5G connectivity though.

The phone runs with iOS 13.

Price starts at USD 699 (around PHP 36K without taxes and duties yet). It is USD 50 cheaper than the XR last year.

Let's just hope that it won't reach the PHP 50,990 price tag once it is here in the Philippines.
