Taking cues from the Reno and Reno 10x box design and layout, the Reno2 F's box contains the Reno2 F smartphone, VOOC 3.0 charging brick, VOOC 3.0 USB Type-A to USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, OPPO-branded earphones, SIM ejector tool, transparent jelly case, and documentation.

An in-display fingerprint compatible screen protector is pre-installed on the display.

OPPO is unifying the design language across their whole Reno line up and with the Reno2F it features a solid metal-like frame, a stunning glass front, and a beautiful 3D curved Gorilla Glass 5 back.

3D curved back in Sky White color is lit!

The glossy back is eye-catching with the different colors it produces depending on how the light hits it. It reminds us of how even more beautiful a pearl becomes depending on how the light hits its surface.

In the middle of the back are the protector bump, Vertically aligned quad-camera set-up, and OPPO branding.

It comes in Lake Green and Sky White colors.

In front is the large FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution, 6.5-inch 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 protected AMOLED display at 394 ppi. Upon closer inspection, the top and side bezels are noticeably thinner than the chin bezel.

It is equivalent to an impressive 91.1 percent of screen-to-body ratio

This enables OPPO to put a large 6.5-inch display is a relatively small 161.8 x 75.8 x 9.35 mm form factor.

On top of the device is the POP-up camera cut-out and module and a single microphone port. While at the bottom are the speaker grills, USB Type-C port, microphone port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack!

After a few minutes of the device, we immediately noticed that the curved back made it easier to hold in one hand but the glass material and the metal-like frame make the phone prone to slips.

The glass material is also a big fingerprint magnet. We recommend installing the included case right away.

Initial findings

1. The 6.5-inch 2.5D curved AMOLED screen with FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution at 394 ppi produces colors that pop with sharp texts and images that you would expect from a 1080p panel. It is Gorilla Glass 5 protected so it isn't as prone to scratches as phones that don't have this protection.

2. Under the hood are the proven 64-bit Helio P70 octa-core processor, Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This resulted in an AnTuTu version 8 score of 189,179 and a GeekBench 5 score of 309 in single-core tests and 1,429 in multi-core tests.

Large RAM, big battery, but it would have been better if it has a new chip

Powering the whole thing is a large 4,000mAh battery that is charged via USB Type-C with VOOC 3.0 flash charge which is one of the fastest charging solutions on the market today. It is so fast that OPPO is promising 50 percent battery in 30 minutes.

3. The Reno2F is running on ColorOS 6.1 that is based on Android 9.0 Pie. There is no word yet if when it will receive the Android 10 update.

4. At the back is a vertically aligned quad-camera set-up made up of a 48MP f/1.79 main camera, 8MP f/2.2 119-degree ultra-wide camera, 2MP f/2.4 monochrome camera, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor camera.

5. The device goes with WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), 700MHz 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS, microSD card slot, and dedicated dual SIM (nano) connectivity options. On the display is the In-Display fingerprint scanner and the phone supports Face Unlock.

As of the moment

A W or an L?
A W or an L?

At PHP 19,990, the OPPO Reno2 F has a lot going for it like the beautiful design, big AMOLED notchless display, large RAM, large storage, large battery capacity, and the 48MP quad-camera system.

We also like that out of the box, you get the complete package with 3.5mm jack earphones that most high-end phones leave out these days.

It would have been more attractive if it has an upgraded chip coming from F11 Pro though.

But, we will test it first and see how good is it in real life. See you in our full review!
