Vivo's newly released V17 Pro is a premium mid-ranger in style packed with a lot of cameras, 6 in total.
|
Quad-cam behind |
In particular, it has AI-assisted four cameras at the back and two more in its pop-up module. Each of them has its own purpose and is designed to let you "shoot beyond limits".
What does that mean? Let's dissect them!
Back cameras
|
How many mid-range phones can take crisp images like this? |
1. 48MP f/1.8 - The 48MP sensor is the primary camera of the V17 Pro. It uses the 4-in-1 pixel binning technology that combines 4 pixels into 1 for a crispier 12MP output with great rich colors, great dynamic range, and enhanced low light performance.
|
Night mode is love |
Did I mention low light? Yes, this phone is a pretty good shooter in the dark. It even has its own Night mode to let you take even better images in the dark.
The 48MP cam will also allow users to shoot detailed 4K 30fps videos.
|
Normal |
|
Ultra-wide |
2. 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra wide-angle - Vivo's second camera is designed to let you "see more" and "fit more" in one frame. despite being an 8MP sensor only, I must admit that it is a pretty good type of 8MP shooter. It allowed us to shoot images with good details for daylight and some indoor shots.
At least, there is no need to use the panorama mode anymore to take wide shots.
|
Respectable ultra-wide shot in the dark |
In low light, even if it doesn't have a Night mode, its AI algorithm still helped in letting it take decent-looking wide images in the dark.
By the way, there is also an option to shoot ultra-wide 1080p videos!
|
Super close-up shots anyone? |
3. 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro - The third camera will allow you to shoot closer. If you want to take macro shots in daylight, this could be a useful camera.
|
Improved bokeh effect |
4. 2MP f/2.4 depth - The last camera is designed to assist in taking portrait shots with close to realistic bokeh effect.
Selfie cameras
|
Dual-cam in front |
1. 32MP f/2.0 Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor - Like the 48MP camera, this sensor is the one responsible for capturing selfies with plenty of details. Vivo also improved its ever-improving selfie camera algorithm to let you take good-looking selfies in most conditions.
|
Cropped selfie with portrait effect |
It also has its own Face Beauty and Portrait effects. This is also a rare mid-range camera phone with a Night mode for selfies apart from the softlight LED flash.
|
Night mode for selfies? Yes! |
It can shoot up to 1080p detailed videos.
|
Ultra-wide selfies are back! |
2. 8MP f/2.2 105-degree ultra wide-angle w/ LED flash - The next good feature of V17 Pro's camera is its secondary ultra-wide lens. It's an 8MP f/2.2 105-degree sensor that can fit a lot of people in one frame.
You can also use the Face Beauty and Portrait effects for selfies. The coolest thing? It has an option to let you use the ultra-wide cam for taking videos.
I personally think that it has the potential to be a decent vlogging camera phone because of that.
