In the new app, you will be able to access recent documents and even create new ones using the ability to scan text or tables from your phone. Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are identical to their individual counterparts which make for an easier transition for the users.

The new Office app is more of a central hub for all these apps including all of their features. You can transfer files from your computer, convert images into text or tables, scan pictures into PDFs, and scan QR codes. These features are streamlined for people on the go that need Office apps.

The new Office app is now available in a public preview state today. As of right now, the app is only available for smartphones with no support for iPads and Android tablets yet. Here's how you can sign up to test it:
