PLDT, Smart Communications announces Araneta 5G City!

Araneta Group partners with PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. to bring 5G technology to Gateway Mall and Araneta City (formerly known as Araneta Center), Cubao.

Smart 5G arrives at Araneta, Cubao!

Aside from the rolled-out Fibr powered WiFi connectivity through Google Station in Gateway Mall, Smart Araneta Coliseum, New Frontier Theater, and the Araneta City bus port, PLDT, Smart with the Araneta has announced Araneta is now a 5G City.

At the event, PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan and Araneta Group of Companies chairman Jorge L. Araneta were present at the signing ceremonies and during the 5G use-case demonstration and pocket activities.

This enables residents and visitors of Araneta City, Cubao to connect wirelessly at high speeds but with low latency through 5G.

Both the Google WiFi Stations and the Smart 5G infrastructure are now live and available for public use. You will, however, need 5G capable devices to access the 5G speeds.

Also, 5G SIM cards are not yet available in the country yet.

The device that they used for the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G with Kirin 990 5G chipset.

During the test, they achieved 855 Mbps download speed using the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G flagship phone.
