The camera-focused phones for content creators under PHP 30K

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a mix of glass back panel and a metal frame that gives it a premium feel. At the back, the quad-camera setup is found at the left-hand side of the device. It also has minimal branding as well. It also has a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection.

OPPO Reno2 has a 3D curved glass back with Gorilla Glass 5, a curved metal frame with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 6 protecting the screen.

In the looks department, they both look great. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 and OPPO Reno2 have premium glass and metal designs which is what you expect at this price point. The Mi Note 10 has a small notch while the Reno2 has a pop-up selfie camera.

Display - The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has a 6.47-inch 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5 protected Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ 2340 x 1080 resolution at 397 ppi

OPPO Reno2 has a 6.55-inch 2.5D curved Dynamic AMOLED screen with 2400 x 1080 FHD+ resolution at 402 ppi.

The Reno2 has a slightly taller screen as well as a higher pixel density so the images come out a bit sharper. Both have FHD+ resolution.

Both screens have great color reproduction due to both devices having AMOLED screens.

But, the Reno2 is sporting the newer Dynamic AMOLED panel.

Specs - For performance, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro has a 2.2GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 730G octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM with 256GB UFS 2.1 expandable storage, and a 5,260mAh battery with 30W Fast Charging. OPPO Reno2 has a gaming-focused 2.2GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 730G AIE octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB RAM with 256GB expandable storage, and a 4,000mAh with VOOC 3.0 flash charge.

In terms of CPU and GPU, both devices sport the same SoC. So expect similar speeds.

However, the Mi Note 10 has a bigger 5,260mAh battery. Both devices have dual WiFi as well as 700MHz LTE.
Penta-cam or quad-cam?



Cameras - The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro is equipped with a penta-camera setup consisting of a 108MP f/1.69 Samsung HMX w/ OIS and 8P element lens + 20MP 117-degree ultra-wide camera + 12MP 2x telephoto w/ 2PD + 5MP 5x telephoto + 2MP 1.5cm macro w/ dual-tone LED flash. It has up to 50x of digital zoom in total. It also has a 32MP f/2.0 selfie sensor.  

OPPO Reno2 has a quad-camera setup with a combo of 48MP f/1.7 Sony IMX586 w/ PDAF, CAF, OIS, EIS + 13MP 5x Hybrid Optical Zoom + 8MP 116-degree ultra wide-angle  + 2MP mono w/ dual-tone LED flash. It has a 16MP f/2.0 sensor with an LED flash for selfies.

In terms of main camera specs, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 takes the lead with a penta-camera setup. It has a 108MP f/1.69 Samsung HWX sensor with OIS. Both offer a complete package with an ultra-wide sensor and telephoto. While Mi Note 10 has a macro sensor, the Reno2 has a mono sensor.

Reno2 boasts the Ultra Steady Video for super stabilized videos. Both have their own interpretation of the night mode.

For selfies, we will give it to the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. It has twice the sensor size of what is found in Reno2. Having a pop-up mechanism is a plus for OPPO.

Other features - Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has an In-Display fingerprint sensor, FM Radio, USB-C, NFC, Hi-Res audio with 1216 1.0cc speaker, and IR Blaster. The OPPO Reno2 has an In-Display fingerprint sensor, NFC, Hi-Res audio with Dolby Atmos, and dual mics as well.

Our thoughts

Based on their specs, it is a good match between the Reno2 and the Mi Note 10 Pro.

Xiaomi Note 10 offers something new with a 108MP penta-camera setup, same SoC, and bigger battery capacity. It is a great-looking PHP 30K phone.

On the other hand, despite being slightly more affordable, the Reno2 has its own strengths. It is the device with the better looking all-screen design with a new-generation Dynamic AMOLED panel and a pop-up camera system. OPPO also shoots the more stabilized videos.
