Apple recently established a production facility in India to avoid high tariffs on imported devices. Foxconn, Apple's major manufacturing partner has also invested over a USD 1 Billion in expanding its factories in India. Early this year, Facebook and Amazon invested USD 5.7B and USD 1B in India respectively.

Today, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announces that Google will be investing over USD 10 Billion in India that will be spent in four areas: Localization, Google, and Alphabet products services specifically for India, Digital Transformation, and Social Good.


When I was young, every new piece of technology brought new opportunities to learn and grow, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced today. But I always had to wait for it to arrive from someplace else. Today, people in India no longer have to wait for technology to come to you. A whole new generation of technologies are happening in India first.
