ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the ROG Phone 3—a high-end gaming-focused smartphone that promises to pack features to bring the gaming experience to the next level.

The ROG Phone 3 has a similar body to the ROG Phone 2 with subtle design improvements. It still has the RGB ROG logo at the back, the thermal vents, and the horizontally-oriented triple camera setup.

It also has two USB-C charging ports with one found at the bottom and one at the side for landscape charging. It also has dual-front facing speakers with Dirac HD sound.

It also has AirTrigger 3 with new touch and motion sensors for the Dual Partition Buttons, swipe controls, as well as continuous trigger press. You can also shake the phone to simulate a button press for instance.

For the display, it has a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with 144Hz/1ms refresh rate, 10-bit HDR, HDR10+ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It also has Delta-E<1 color accuracy and TÜV Rheinland certification. It also has 25ms touch latency with a 270ms touch sampling rate to have the fastest touch reaction rate.

Inside, it has the 7nm 3.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus octa-core processor with 5G support, Adreno 650 GPU, up to 16GB  LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512GB UFS 3.1 ROM, and a 6,000mAh battery with 30W HyperCharge at the side and bottom ports. The side port also supports USB 3.1 Gen2, DisplayPort 1.4 up to 4K UHD, and PD 3.0 fast charging. The ROG Phone 3 got a 655,306 AnTuTu score.

For cameras, it has a triple camera setup with 64MP f/1.8 Sony IMX686 + 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor + 5MP macro sensor with LED flash. It also has a 24MP selfie sensor. It also has WiFi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and NavIC.

Gaming features

The thermal management for the ROG Phone 3 is also improved with a 6x larger heat sink, Aero Active Cooler 3, a redesigned 3D vapor chamber, and an aluminum frame. For performance, there is an enhanced X-mode to prevent performance throttling that can be easily activated via the toggle settings.

There are customizable settings for the Game Profile that includes touch response, display refresh rate, performance, network settings, AirTrigger settings, key mapping, and macro keys.

There's the HyperFusion network technology that can intelligently choose between WiFi and mobile data depending on signal strength and stability. It can also combine WiFi and mobile network speeds.

The Armoury Crate contains the Game Genie for gaming-focused setting toggles. You can also share and receive gamer profiles via ROG Connect which are optimized settings for different games.

There is a slew of accessories available for the ROG Phone 3 like the Lighting Armor Case with aura lighting, TwinView Dock 3 for dual-screen 144Hz gaming, ROG Kunai 3 gamepads that can be configured via Game Genie, and ROG Clip to attach ROG Phone with Xbox One, PS4, and Google Stadia controllers with keymapping support.

There's the Mobile Desktop Dock too that allows users to connect a mouse and keyboard for a PC-like experience with a monitor or TV.

Since the ROG Phone 3 have a similar design and build with the ROG Phone 2, most of the latter's accessories are still compatible with the former.

Additionally, ROG partnered with UNITY Engine and Google Stadia. If Google Stadia is available in your region, you get 3 months FREE of Google Stadia Pro when you buy the ROG Phone 3.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition

A Strix Edition of the ROG Phone 3 is also announced with a similar design, build, screen, features but with different internals. It features a 2.84GHz Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor with 5G, Adreno 650 GPU, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It still has a 6,000mAh battery with 30W HyperCharge.

There are three variants announced for the ROG Phone 3 series that are priced as follows:

ASUS ROG Phone 3 16GB/512GB variant - EUR 1,099 (around PHP 63K)
ASUS ROG Phone 3 12GB/512GB variant - EUR 999 (around PHP 57K)
ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition - EUR 799 (around PHP 46K)
