MediaTek is reportedly working on a 6nm chip that is as fast as Snapdragon 865

MediaTek is a chipmaker known for making good solutions for affordable devices. But in 2020, the company has upped its game even in the premium segment and it seems that they are not stopping there.

MediaTek flagship chip of 2021?

According to a new leak from known tipster Digital Chat Station, Mediatek is working on a processor called the  MT689X based on the 6nm manufacturing process.

The said chip is a promising one. It'll likely have the same architecture as the Samsung Exynos 1080 that will be paired with ARM's Mali-G77 GPU, a similar GPU found on the Dimensity 1000+ and Huawei Mate 40 Pro.

Digital Chat Station claimed that the chip has scored around 600K at the AnTuTu benchmark which is the same score as the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. If true, this suggests that the MediaTek 6nm chip will be a very powerful chip.

There is no other information about the chipset at the moment yet. But likely, more info will be available about this device in the coming days or weeks.

One thing is sure, this is a promising development.
