Back in April, Samsung confirmed that the company is working on a camera sensor with a whopping 600MP resolution. But, the sensor is not for smartphones. The company is planning to use it for rapidly-emerging fields such as autonomous vehicles, IoT, and drones.
But today, the well-known leaker obtained a "legit-looking" proprietary and confidential image from the Samsung Investors Forum 2020 showing a camera sensor solution for smartphones with 600MP resolution.
It shared an image of a prototype device with a MASSIVE-looking single camera that covers probably 12 percent of the smartphone area at the back while maintaining a slim 8.8 mm body. It showed that ISOCELL, the company of Samsung responsible for camera sensors, will solve the problem of the camera bump. This is catered to the current 4K and 8K video trends.
The sensor will have a massive 1/0.57-inch size. In comparison, the 108MP sensor of Samsung only has a size of 1/1.3-inch and 0.8μm.
There is no word when will Samsung release the said camera sensor though. But, let's hope that it will be more refined than its current 108MP camera.
Let's wait and see if this leak is true. What do you guys think?
