New Huawei patents from BlackBerry

It said that most of the patents were security-related. One patent lawyer said that some of the patents include how to present text depending on the orientation of the phone, how GPS data is obtained, and more.

This report was confirmed by BlackBerry CFO Steve Rai to the Canadian press. The transfer of the rights has apparently already been registered with US patent authorities.

This is not a part of any ongoing arrangement from both sides with the Canadian government, BlackBerry's origin.

The move is in line with the company's direction of moving away from the handset business.

The last time BlackBerry made phones is when they were licensed by TCL Communication. TCL's partnership with BB after nearly four years ended last August 31, 2020.

BlackBerry has shifted its focus to the enterprise, IoT, and security software sectors.

What do you think of this move?
