Back in September 2021, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. The Apple Watch Series 6 is the sixth generation of the Apple Watch that was originally introduced in 2014 by Tim Cook. The original Apple Watch was then released in 2015.

Above Avalon reports that Apple has shipped more than 100 million units of Apple Watch since its original launch in 2015. In 2020, over 30 million new users have begun wearing the Apple Watch which exceeded the number of new Apple Watch wearers in 2015, 2016, 2017 combined.

Above Avalon says that back in 2015, the adoption rate for the Apple Watch is 3 percent of iPhone owners. Fast forward 5 years later at end of 2020, approximately 10 percent of iPhone users are wearing an Apple Watch. This is a massive growth from 2015.

In the United States, over 35 percent of iPhone users are wearing an Apple Watch and the Apple Watch adoption rate continues to grow over the past five years.

Above Avalon elaborated that the reasons for the increased Apple Watch adoption are because of the form and function, wrist appeal, "cool factor" and the ever-growing Apple ecosystem.

Lastly, the article also says that in the future, the Apple Watch could take in more roles like an identity checker, health monitor, and a support device for face wearables.
