Globe, DITO ink interconnection deal for wireless subscribers!
Globe Telecom also sealed an interconnection deal with telco startup DITO Telecommunity!

This came a day after PLDT and the third telco player sealed the same agreement
In a statement on Wednesday, Globe said its deal with DITO covers domestic mobile calls and SMS enabling Globe’s customers to make mobile calls, send SMS with the latter's customers without worrying about additional fees.
Globe’s collaboration with DITO Telecommunity is part of our commitment to improving customer services by enhancing connectivity among others. This interconnection also reflects the vibrancy of competition in the telecommunications industry, Globe's General Counsel Atty. Froilan Castelo said.
The Ayala-led telco noted its interconnection deal on the fixed landline segment is now in the works.
Interconnection among telco providers is in line with provisions for compulsory interconnection of authorized public telecommunications carriers under Republic Act 7925. The law aims to create a universally accessible and fully integrated nationwide telecommunications network to encourage more infrastructure investments from the private sector that would benefit the consumers.
The group, backed by Davao's Dennis Uy and China Telecommunications, is now fully set for its commercial launch on March 8.
It will initially roll out its services in Mindanao and Visayas.
But DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano stressed that by mid-2021, DITO Telecommunity will be "available throughout the country."
