DITO Telecommunity goes official, now available in VisMin

On schedule, the Philippines' official third major telco DITO Telecommunity officially held its commercial launch. DITO will first operate in several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

DITO Telecommunity now operational!

DITO Chairman and CEO Dennis Uy earlier said,

We are not here only for business, but also for nation-building. DITO is more than just a telco. We are here to serve. DITO na kami, magkita-kita tayo jan very soon.

ABS-CBN reported that the DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said that the company's "first act" is to provide 3,000 frontliners with FREE service. The frontliners include doctors, teachers, and policemen, among others.

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan noted that DITO's entry "represents a big boost in the digital connectivity services" for Filipinos.

Earlier, DITO said that its service will first be available in the areas below:

Metro Cebu

1. Carcar
2. Cebu City
3. Consolacion
4. Danao
5. Liloan,
6. Mandaue
7. Minglanilla
8. Naga
9. San Fernando
10. Talisay

Metro Davao

1. Panabo
2. Tagum
3. Carmen
4. Davao City
5. Digos

DITO noted that while its services would be limited to these areas for its initial launch, its network across the country is "already ready".

On its website, DITO also revealed its "WELCOME OFFER" with 30 days UNLI SMS, CALLS, and DATA for just PHP 199.

The government assigned the following prefixes for their customers: 0991, 0992, 0993, 0994; and 0898, 089, 0896, and 0895.

To recap,  DITO promised to provide 27 megabits per second of speed, covering 37 percent of the Philippine population in its first year.

Based on its technical audit, DITO's coverage reached 37.48 percent or 37,845,315 based on the 2015 national census population of 100.983 million.
